The Maison Saint-Sa store in Luynes, Aix en Provence

To know or to discover a beautiful and inspirational interior design store, is one of the small pleasures of the life for any decorating fanatic. And fortunately these precious addresses are not just to be found in the big citie centers but pretty much anywhere.
The pictures and the things-to-know that I share with you today are about Dorothy’s beautiful store
, la Maison Saint-Sa.

The store is found in Luynes, a district of Aix en Provence to the south side of town. Let me tell you about when I met its owner and I’ll also share some facts about the store to make you want to go and check it out for yourself.

It’s a slightly rainy Tuesday mornig when I arrive a little before the opening time at the Maison Saint-Sa store. The door is wide open and Dorothée is already styling the shop and sorting last arrivals for over an hour. She welcomes me with a lovely smile and while we talk (unavoidable before taking pictures, ha ha) the first customer is already coming in.

I met Dorothée Capitani during the Vivre Coté Sud fair three years ago thanks to a mutual friend, photographer Virginie Michel. Without knowing it I had already regularly driven by her previous store because I often take the small roads through hills (and thus through the village of Saint Savournin) to go to Marseille airport .

Dorothée ran a large DIY store in which she had created a large interior design corner. About a quarter of the store surface was wonderfully styled with beautiful brands of lighting, carpets, furniture, textiles, home decor, etc.
I was delighted to have been made aware of it because I hadn’t suspected to find all that great stuff behind the shop front in Saint Savournin (knowing it was in that village obviously explains the name of the store).

Since, Maison Saint-Sa has been one of the main partners of our 2017 E@t with the Blogger event in Aix en Provence.

The stores ‘renaissance’.

Last year Dorothée decided to devote her store solely to interior decorating and she found a new location to do so. In April of this year 2018, she opened the doors of the new Luynes store. The location in the midst of all Luynes commerce, it’s great and it has accessible parking.
Whilest this change was going on, she also prepared for her very successful participation of the Vivre Côté Sud 2018 fair and on top of that she launched her
 e-shop.

A rather bold and quite impressive new start with a great result.
I love the new store!

If my photos don’t already want to make you go check it out, here are 8 things you need to know about la Maison de Saint-Sa!

1. There are products by the major brands but also by ‘small’ labels.

The Maison de Saint-Sa will meet all customers demand with their selection of beautiful brands (such as Bloomingville, Harmony, House Doctor, HKliving, etc.), but it’s also one of Dorothée’s aims to work with ‘small’ French labels, local as well as national.

2. It’s inspiring with beautiful styling examples and decorating ideas.

The styling of the products and furniture and the decorating ideas are really great, so it’s really inspiring. Personally, I liked the idea of putting a cowhide (normally a carpet) in a table setting for example (it was used as a tablecloth).

3. You’ll find objects and products that are not already seen everywhere.

And that’s always nice, because we still tend to find the same stuff everywhere. Dorothée really tries to find a balance between the much sought after products that customers ask for and the products that are much less known.
For instance, the beautiful wool blankets of the Sandhi brand. It’s one of my personal crushes.

4. The shop also accompanies you in your home decorating projects.

We’re not only a store! We also offer advice in decorating and layout, so that your interior will ressemble you!

5. Maison Saint-Sa also sells very beautiful products of its home brand!

Dorothée has developed a lovely textile collection, such as sofa – and cushion covers, with her home brand. Items that proved to be a real success at the Vivre Coté Sud fair in Aix en Provence last June. Meanwhile there’s the new Céder line stealing the show in the shop this winter (see photos below).

6. The store is much followed (because very active) on social media.

I love following the Instagram account of Maison Saint-Sa and its Facebook page because there are daily new photos with either a change in styling or with new products (because “deliveries in store are continuous, so that you can make yourself or someone else happy as often as possible!“)

7. You will leave the shop with such lovely gift wrapping.

The purpose to make life beautiful goes all the way for the store and if you succeeded in finding a gift for someone, there will be a lovely gift wrapping. Is this important? I don’t know about you but yes, me, I’m very sensitive to it. A nice packaging does so much for a gifts, don’t you think?

8. As I mentionned earlier, Maison Saint-Sa is also an online store.

You’re not all in the Aix en Provence and Marseille region, but no worries because you’ll find many of the beautiful products of the store also in their e-shop!
You will be able to find in the e-shop a selection of the well-known brands like Madam Stoltz, Rock The Kasbah, Beija Flor … as well as pieces selected from a range of suppliers, grouped under the name of
“Jolies Trouvailles”, in the perspective of creating a collection with a warm ethnic and bohemian-chic style,
that you might like and that will suit you
.”
