The joy of decorating one’s home, dare I say the joy of home living, is something continuous. That is to say, it is never “done”.
I can have guests over who are not at all into home design that ask me, so you’re almost done then as far as decorating your home goes? But no, I don’t think I’ll ever be done and I’m rather happy about that.
Imagine you’re training for a marathon and you’re running for months. You’re not going to stop running after the marathon, are you? You continue training and you find another challenge.
For home decorating, I think it’s like that.
So, little by little, I continue to decorate our home and with twice as much fun since our renovation two years ago.
One of the projects was a new table for the dining room.
In this article, I’ll tell you about our XXL dining room table and the two chairs I found at PIB, to be able to seat the people who should fill up this extra long table 😉
The table
Because of our renovation, our dining room has also become more spacious and our ‘old’ table just seemed too small. We’d bought it in Spain before we even had children and so for me it was a bit of a case of been-there & done-that. So we started looking for a new table. Our measurements allowed for a 3 meters long table and that’s exactly what I dreamed of (before, we put a board on the table so that we culd fit ten or twelve at the table, it was not practical).
Unfortunately, in the existing product range and even on online secondhand stores tables of 3 meters are quite rare and I guess I am a little (a lot) picky, I don’t like everything. So we quickly came to the conclusion that we had to have it made specially.
Through friends we got the name of a good designer/cabinet maker not far from us, who understood exactly what we were looking for. And who was happy to try methods to achieve a worn wood effec. It’s great, what a joy to work with someone like that and to create together what you clearly see in your mind.
I would have loved to be a designer, I think.
Like children after Christmas, we admired our beautiful table. Our lunches, even for two, were magical and we couldn’t wait to invite lots of friends or family to come have a meal with us.
But… where should they sit? THE CHAIRS
We only had three chairs and a two-seater bench, and that wasn’t going to cut it for a 3 meter long table…
So I was happy when PIB contacted me to try their products in exchange for a blogpost (this post, right). I was going to add some great chairs. I confess that it was not easy to decide which ones because I discovered that PIBÂ is a site with a large selection of furniture, lighting and decorative accessories, in several styles and for all budgets.
Next to our diningroom is my home office with a chair that I luckily got from my in-laws when they moved. It is an original they got like 45 years ago, Scandinavian style and completely in trend at the moment. I had seen that PIB had a few chair designs that would go so well with that desk chair that I chose of one those, the Lärsson.
Seeing as we also got into the habit of working at our new dining table (there’s plenty of room now) I can tell you tha the Lärsson chair is super comfortable for this use too. The fabric seat and backrest are great and it’s quite a dynamic seat.
We still haven’t had the big meal with 10 or 12 guests, alas (it’s summer weather, we’re mostly outside). But sometimes when we’re just the two of us, we ‘linger’ at the table after the dessert and the Lärsson chair hasn’t disappointed at all.
We’re so pleased!
